Skurnik’s Aussie Spotlight on BHW

Skurnik Wines and Spirits is an importer and distributor of fine wines and spirits headquartered in the heart of New York City.

They partner with my US distributor Little Peacock to distribute my wines in NYC.

Over the past 30+ years, they have developed an excellent reputation and have for goal to insure that if a wine says “Imported by Skurnik Wines and Spirits” it is as close to a guarantee of quality as possible. To this day, Michael and Harmon taste every vintage of every wine that makes it into the portfolio – to insure that each is good enough to wear the Skurnik Wines and Spirits name.

In their blog this month, Skurnik Unfiltered, their Aussie Spotlight delves into Ben Haines Wine, and nicely articulates my philosophy and vision. Here’s a taste of what they wrote:

“He made his first single vineyard wines in 2003, not for commercial release but rather as a personal fascination with the idea of interpreting places through winemaking. The vineyards he chooses are those possessing great interest, charm and depth, and that capture a sense of mystique. They are primarily organic or Biodynamic (or in conversion) and mostly in the state of Victoria, often with important histories.”

“Ben’s viticulturist instincts directed him to manage the vineyards with exactitude and the result was wines with “high definition” fruit and spice attributes that were simply mind bending. Ben is one of the vanguard of younger Australian winemakers that is pushing the norm of what Australian wine is and can be. His wines are fresh, bright, and highly affordable.”
